Northern Ireland Dobermann Club

About the Club

The Dobermann started to become popular in Northern Ireland in the early 1970's, with a number of individuals showing their dogs at local shows in the variety classes. As numbers increased, breed classes were then allocated at these shows

During 1977 the number of dogs being shown had increased to the extent that it was felt that a breed club could be formed, and so Paddy Cooke and Bob Patton initiated the Inaugural Meeting, which was held on Wednesday, 14th September 1977, in the Art Rooms, Castle Grounds, Antrim.

Twenty-eight people attented this meeting, which was chaired by Paddy and Bob, and our sponsors for the formation of the club were the Midland and Welsh Dobermann Clubs.   At this meeting the first Officers and Committee were elected as follows
